Saturday was a pretty crazy day full of Coast Guard festivities! We all woke up , ate cinnamon rolls and muffins for breakfast, and went downstairs to set out chairs and blankets for the Grand Parade. It was a super long parade with over 160 things to see. It started sprinking and raining a bit so everyone went upstairs, but a few us of stuck it out to watch the parade. I went upstairs and grabbed the outdoor patio umbrella, and went back outside to stand underneath it and hold it so that Brett's parents didn't get wet while sitting there. It was fun; I enjoyed the parade, as always. I'm such a "mom" in so many aspects.
(we had no idea brett was in this picture until after it was taken,
we were walking the carnival last night and i just laughed out loud,
and brett was like, "what?" and I told him I was just thinking of this photo)
During the day, a few of us went to go see Funny People. It was a long movie, but definitely really good. I enjoyed it. Perfect to go see a movie while the rain let up. By the time we got out of the movie, the sun was back out. We went back home and started cooking dinner. Everyone started to show up and we all ate bbq'ed deliciousness. There were 13 of us all together, which didn't seem like a lot, but it does when they're all in the house, especially with how little seating we have around here! It was fun; I love having friends over here. It was a blast having people stay the night all weekend.

After we all ate dinner, we walked down to the carnival. It was so windy downtown; we thought they might cancel the fireworks. It definitely looked like it was about to downpour at any minute. We dropped off our blankets and cameras to Brett's parents, and decided to walk around the carnival. We saw this new ride that looked crazy. It had these two arms that swung you crazily up into the air. We looked at how many tickets you needed and it was 8! That means it would have been $8 to ride one ride, so we didn't. Downtown was insane; so many people. You could barely walk through the streets because of all the people. So we decided to go back and sit down for the fireworks. The fireworks were insane. It was so windy, so when the fireworks were shot off, they blew over us like we had to look straight up to see them. It was like they covered the entire sky; it was crazy, but definitely pretty awesome. Our mouths were open at the end of it all. We all came back here and waited for traffic to subside and then people left. Definitely a great Coast Guard festivity filled day.
