Gun Lake Fireworks

So last night was absolutely amazing. Completely unexpected, but great. I drove to Grand Rapids to see Brett. Brett, Peter and I walked to Martha's vineyard, then hung around until we had to pick Damian up from work.

(brett and i in front of the duplex)

We picked him up and drove to Gun Lake to see the fireworks. We got there, took a walk and went to the store to get some food. We came back and ate dinner and then sat around for a bit talking. We took chairs down by the water and waited for the fireworks. Brett and I sat on the dock for a little bit and talked. The atmosphere of the sky was just amazing, I wish I would have gotten a picture of it. But the vibe was just amazing. I felt like I was supposed to be there. Like everything is alright and is going to be better. The fireworks were great and I had a lot of fun.

We had to drive the convertible home and Brett and I sat in the back and the top was down. It was an absolute blast. We were listening to oldies music. Brett and I cuddled, held hands and kissed a couple times. It was amazing. And I know this sounds completely corny, but I've never seen a shooting star before in my life and I saw one last night. I was like, "Brett! I saw one! Did you see it?" and he said yes.

Randolph Street Market

On Saturday, I attended the Randolph Street Market with Andrea and Veronika. First, we met up with a few other bloggers for photos, mimosas and introductions! It was great to meet Isa from Chicago Looks and Luis from ChiCity Trends. Isa photographed my outfit for her street-style blog, so you can check that out too!

    (Luis and I)

We ate crepes, walked around the market looking at the most beautiful furniture, vintage dresses, shoes and jewelry! It was wonderful. It was a bit cold and windy in the city, but I'm glad the rain held off for the vendors! I had a great time in Chicago and it was so amazing to meet so many new people and hang out with two of my favorite people ever. I'm excited to go back again!

Randolph Blogger Happy Hour

This weekend has been amazing. I drove into Chicago on Friday to meet up with my dear friends Andrea from Blonde Bedhead and Veronika from Tick Tock Vintage. I was so excited to meet Veronika. We clicked instantly and I swear I don't think I could love that girl more. The three of us had so much fun. We went shopping for a bit, grabbed some delicious ice-cream and all got ready to head to the Randolph Street Market Blogger Happy Hour to meet up with other Chicago-based bloggers! I always love seeing those girls!

The blogger happy-hour was held at Plumber's Hall and there were plenty of free drinks! It was my first time drinking champagne... ew! Veronika was cracking up at me and drinking the rest of my drink. I opted for the rum and diet coke instead. It was so fun taking outfit shots with all of the girls outside in an alleyway! It's always amazing for me to get with a group of girls who understand the concept of 'outfit shots'. Haha!

All of the Chicago-based girls are so sweet. I absolutely love meeting up with all of them. From right to left, here are the bloggers in order: Sabrina from Defying My Closet, Tara from Haute Lunch, Tabitha from Fashion Therapist, Leilani from Thriftaholic, Lisa from Archives Vintage, Emily from Sartoriography, Veronika from Tick Tock Vintage, Andrea from Blonde Bedhead and me!

It's such a joy to get dressed up with girls, take photos, have some drinks, walk the entire way home with arms linked giggling over insane stories. We went home to have a couple of drinks before 'heading out on the town' but instead ended up laughing at dumb YouTube videos (old gregg!) on the internet and falling asleep early. Love these girls!

Thanks so much to the Randolph Street Market for hosting the blogger happy hour and providing snacks and drinks! It was such a great time and super fun to have a sneak peek of the market! I love going out to Chicago for fun events and can't wait for the next one. Thanks to all of the girls for hanging out - I had so much fun! xo

    Outfit details:
    American Apparel army green tights
    Thrifted belt

Juicy Couture Chictopia After-Party!

So, the Chictopia Juicy Couture after party was just amazing. If you haven't already heard, I was one of the winners of Chictopia's Make Life Juicy contest and was just absolutely thrilled! I found out two days before I was going to leave and it was just the icing on top of my fashion week cake. Kim from Eat Sleep Wear and Jennie from Going West were the other two winners! We met up at Juicy Couture and were able to pick out any outfit we wanted from the store. I mean, how intimidating is that? There were too many amazing things! We had assistants bringing us different sizes and new styles - I felt like I was in a movie!

We tried on countless variations of outfits and finally decided on what we wanted. I had my heart set on a gray blazer (not pictured!) that I couldn't leave the store without, so I knew I had to base my outfit around that blazer. Of course, it had amazing pants to match that fit me perfectly - so all I had to do was match this slouchy top and some studded heels! I absolutely adore my outfit, thanks to Juicy Couture and Chictopia. Plus, they are reimbursing up to $600 in travel expenses. How did I get so lucky on this one?!

The party - was amazing. I had such an amazing time chatting with so many of my favorite girls and bloggers, sipping yummy honey mango drinks and eating one too many macaroons. Plus, so many pictures, gabbing about outfit shots and the things we bloggers go through, giving secrets about my upcoming autumn posts and laughing over things like sand being ground up in our tripods or boyfriends/husbands that refuse to shoot outfit photos - things I can't normally laugh over with girls in real life. Hehe!

Be sure to check out Juicy Couture's facebook page for more photos on the event and check out Chictopia for amazing inspiration and wonderful opportunities. Thanks to both of them for putting on such a great day - for everyone who took part in it! And also a huge thanks to the people at Juicy Couture who helped us style our outfits, grabbed countless sizes and made so many trips to the back room to get us what we needed. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I felt like a rockstar! I had to remind myself countless times in the dressing room that I'm just a small town blogger from west Michigan!

Chictopia Media Tech Summit

Phew, it's nice being back home in Michigan and still having posts from NYFW! Now I can laze around the house in my jammies, get caught up around here and relax! On Sunday, we had to change hotels in the morning and then took a cab over to the Chictopia event. Let me say.. it was amazing. The set up was gorgeous, the venue was perfect.. it honestly blew me away on how well planned this event was! And that was just from the first impression of walking inside! Plus, I learned so much! My notebook is overflowing with notes! Did I mention the food? Amazing!

(dress, ring - h&m | heels, socks, bag - urban outfitters | necklace - c/o dolly and boy jewelry
point the way up button shirt, braided belt - c/o shop ruche)

A few tips from the conference? If you're a blogger looking to work with a brand, send a note! Connect! Reach out. Even if they aren't interested, they might work with you on other promos or features. It's important to build a relationship with a brand.. it might lead to a future sponsorship! Guest blogging is a great way to share traffic. Stick to brands you love. Don't promote something just because you're being paid to - your readers won't trust you! Blogging is like being a brand. You have to be consistent with your message. Be authentic. Be true to yourself. Readers will come! Take part in our amazing community. If you truly want other bloggers to succeed, they'll want the same for you. One of the biggest traffic sources is word of mouth and referrals! Be nice to one girl - she'll tell all of her friends! There's so much more, but hopefully that helps a little bit if you're just starting out and blogging!

It was a little bit chilly this day and my feet were dying so it was amazing to have just a thin layer of socks underneath these heels! There were lots of stripes, plaids and prints at the conference - so glad to see all of that still in style, because I definitely love my prints. I have also fallen in love with the socks with heels trend, of course. And military trends - olive green is my favorite color for autumn! And this lady-like purse from Urban Outfitters isn't leaving my side this season either. I am so excited for autumn fashion. I have some really fun posts planned, so welcome new readers! I'm so excited to have you here!

Fashion's Night Out

Phew, hello there! I finally have a moment in our hotel room to update the blog! New York City has been insane. Elizabeth and I have been non-stop for days, it feels like! So much has happened since Fashion's Night Out, so I wanted to quickly do this post before all of the details have completely left my mind. Friday night, Elizabeth and I headed out for a night on the town for FNO. We first headed over to Market Publique's Pop-Up shop! It was so great to meet some people and check out some amazing vintage.

I wore this dress last January when I first purchased it, but it deserved a night out in warmer weather! The colors are just so fun and I always feel like shaking my hips so the skirt swings about. Last time I wore it, I tied the bow around my waist - so this time I tied it up on my shoulder. I feel like there are so many fun ways to wear this dress because of the large wrap around the waist! After Market Publique, we headed over to Bleecker and walked the entire distance of Manhattan, it felt like! My feet are destroyed. I had to quickly duck into an UO and buy some flats!

(dress - french connection | heels - marshalls | kimchi blue buckle bag - urban outfitters)

We stopped into a few shops to peruse, stopped to the Maybelline area to dance and get a complimentary tube of mascara, popped into Diane Von Furstenberg, spotted Anna Wintour in Theory (snapped a quick photo of the back of her head!), grabbed late night mexican and margaritas with Elizabeth afterwards - the perfect way to wrap up FNO! I have so much more to come about NYFW!

Renegade Blogger Meetup

For our second full day in NYC, we kicked it off right with the Renegade Blogger Meetup! It was such a great time. It was my first time ever in Central Park - which is so exciting. I always think of all of the movies (chick flicks) I've seen that were filmed in Central Park and get so excited. Enchanted, anyone?! Haha, I'm such a small town dork. This event was so great because I got to sit down and chat with so many bloggers! It's so fun to talk to readers and meet people who read my blog. It's weird to find out.. you're all real? Haha! ;)

I went with another typical Tieka outfit - florals, tights, my favorite wedges and an olive green cardigan. I figure if I'm going to meet everyone - it might as well be in an outfit I would typically wear any day on the blog, right? It was the perfect temperature for hanging out in Sheep Meadow. A little bit breezy, overcast at bits but lots of sunshine. The backdrop of the city was perfection!

    (what's in a name rosy dress - c/o shop ruche | cardigan - H&M
tights - target | wedges - urban outfitters)

Here I'm with Elizabeth from Delightfully Tacky, Kim from Eat Sleep Wear and Erin from Calivintage. One of the best parts of blogger meetups is to see everyone you read all in one place, in one photo. It's too awesome! We had a really great turn out today too - devouring some super yummy cupcakes!

I absolutely adored Yaneldys from Out of Season Face. She emailed me back in July as a reader and it's just so fun to meet readers in the flesh! I'm always so overwhelmed at how awesome they all are. Seriously - I feel like all of my readers are just amazing, down to earth, totally awesome girls. I love that about you guys! (PS; I cannot believe I didn't get a photo with Danielle from Antiquated Treasures!) I met up and chatted with her for a bit at the IFB conference and she was amazing!

I, of course, love Morgan (and Lua!) from Morgan and Lua. Hehe! She has been totally awesome to talk to! We were able to catch up lots at the IFB conference after-party and today!

and of course, Annie, from Time Enough for Drums. She's been so perfect to room with these past couple of nights! After the meetup, we grabbed lunch at a diner and it was awesome to chat with her and chow down on some incredibly yummy sweet potato fries! Love this girl.

and my blogger bestieeee... Elizabeth. Looks perfect behind these red balloons!

And who couldn't adore and love Merl from Clyde's Rebirth? She's so real and down to earth and totally refreshing. She laughs at me for loving rom coms (thanks for that, Merl, I'm going to say rom com all the time (aka; romantic comedy)) Brett is going to want to murder meeee! Haha! So yeah, I had such a great time at the conference! Next post up? Fashion's Night Out!
