Stonewalls and leaves fall

Hello, dear friends! Oh gosh, I feel like I'm really out of the loop with my blog. Do you guys feel like I'm missing a little bit in the blog world? I know I read some of my favorite blogs sometimes and they say they are so busy and haven't been able to post all week, but I don't even think twice about it or notice. I hope you guys are thinking that way too! ;)



Last weekend, Brett and I scoured our town for some pretty fall colors. They are almost all gone! Just a few trees here and there with some orange and yellow left! So sad! But we did find this pretty private drive - of course, we trespassed, and there were some colors left back there yet! I wore this outfit out for a few errands - to the grocery store. We also "hired" a buyer's agent that is helping us buy a house! We looked at a few.. but really fell in love with one that isn't built yet. We toured the model and I literally was about to plop down on the carpet and Brett would have had to drag me out of there. I loved it!

I really like orange and blue together! Another color combination I would have never thought of - unless I was frantically flinging all of my clothes out of my closet trying to come up with something to wear! I can't tell you how many times I try on an outfit before going - ew - this just doesn't work. I was even leery to wear the brown tights and brown boots together. I'm loving this plaid scarf from Shop Mamie though! So autumnal and cozy!

I'm sorry if I don't respond to all of you right away - the new schedule has been a bit of an adjustment, but you guys all mean the world! I'm really excited for the upcoming holidays - next week is a three day week! I'll definitely get in some fun outfit posts then! :)

Trick or treat

So it totally felt like Halloween on Saturday because that's when the treat-or-treat time was scheduled in our town. It's more fun when the Halloween festivities are on a weekend! We've been housesitting for Brett's parent's all weekend long, so we were able to pass out candy. Brett and I live right downtown in the historic district and we don't get any trick-or-treater's! It makes me sad, but it was great I was able to pass out candy at his parent's house this year!



I didn't want to spend too much on a costume this year, so Brett and I ran to the Halloween store and I picked up a broom and hat for $14! I received the dress in a swap with Eleanor from Bonjour Bbydoll and I thought it fit the "costume" perfectly! It's nice having so many pairs of crazy tights too. Plus, a little extra makeup and you've got a super cheap costume!

Brett and I did the usual Halloween festivites - ordered a pizza and watched a scary movie. After trick-or-treating finished up, we drove out to the city to hang out! We met up with our friends, Jeremy and Kait, and went over to a Halloween party. It was a pretty fun time - I loved stuffing my face on too much junk food and drinking cider. They had a costume judging contest and it was just great to sit around and hang out with good friends! Afterwards, we grabbed even more food at our local greasy diner. That's seriously my kind of Halloween!

Robinette's Apple Haus

Brett and I headed out to my favorite place ever to go in the autumn, Robinette's Apple Haus & Gift Barn! It's so cute - I love going every single year. They have an amazing apple orchard, bakery, cider bar, gift shop and spiderweb shaped corn maze! Plus, there is a wonderful path through the woods that you can walk and see all of the pretty autumn colors!



I thought this darling apple print skirt from ModCloth would fit our little adventure perfectly! The print is green and brown apples, but it has a black elastic band so I thought a simple black tank and flats would go great with the red cardigan! If it didn't have the black band, I probably wouldn't have thought to wear black with this outfit, but I liked the end result! Especially because my purse matched perfectly today. I never change purses so if I'm in brown, I'm still totting around my black purse! Hehe.

We got some hot cider from the cider bar, bought a half gallon of cider to bring home (they make their own there, yum!) and Brett got some peanut brittle and I chowed down on a caramel apple (my third one of the season, geez!) I love autumn food! We got some pictures by the giant apple and wandered off into the apple orchard for a bit. The weather is definitely cooling down a bit! It was only in the 50's today!



We didn't stay too long because we were in a time crunch due to band practice. Mmhmm, that's right! We have three songs written.. well.. two and a half? It's with our friends Jeremy (guitar/singing) and Jesse (bass) - I'm playing guitar/singing. Brett is drumming! Time flies by when we practice - I'm having so much fun. I can't wait until we have enough songs down to record and play a show! Well, see ya tomorrow! I have to post every day for the rest of the month in order to get all of my planned outfit posts done! Eeep!

Hayrides and corn mazes

Yesterday was the perfect autumn day! I know I say this all the time, but we have been so blessed with such amazing weather so far this season. I'm in love. We headed out to Fruit Ridge for their corn maze and hayride! I loved it. We waited in line first for their apple harvest homemade donuts.. oh my gosh. Heaven! They were so amazing with hot cider!



I had never been to this place before and I was pleasantly surprised! Everything felt so fall there - loved it. First, we did their 15-acre corn maze, the most challenging in the area. There were mailboxes everywhere like a little scavenger hunt where you paper hole punched your card. We got every one but two! We went with our friends, Peter, Jeremy and Kait. It's funny - I never realized that I don't post much about our friends on the blog - but they are all so amazing. We've all been friends for years.



After the corn maze, Brett played in a giant pile of hay and we waited in line for the hayride. I was a little disappointed that the hayride didn't actually have hay on the ride, but was instead benches on a wagon, but it was still fun! The sky was super overcast for a second and it felt like it was going to storm, but then the sun peaked back out!

They stopped the hayrides at a little pumpkin patch where you could pick your own pumpkin if you wanted to! So cute. I loved this place. Afterwards, we got back to their farm area and fed the goats and llamas corn feed we stole from the corn maze. I loveee doing stuff like this. It's so corny, but yet so fun. It's the kind of stuff your parents make you do when you're little you know? That's why I think Brett and I are ready for kids, but yet so not ready at the same time. Haha!

A sunlit path

These October weeks are just flying by! I can't believe we only have two more full weeks left. The colors are at their "peak" right now and it's just so lovely outside. I'm so thankful Michigan has given us such pretty sunlight so far too. Brett and I headed out tonight to shop around the mall, grab dinner and see a movie. We took the back road and stopped at this little pathway along side the road. It was so bright outside - but the leaves were so pretty!



I wore this dress in New York City, but wanted to pair it with these heels again and this shawl. I bought this shawl last fall when I started getting into blogging and I love it so much. It's so big and warm and autumn-feeling. It's so fun now that my blog is a year old to see what I was wearing this time last year and try to recreate styles within the season!

Tomorrow, Brett and I are headed out to a hay ride and corn maze. I can't wait! Next week, I really need to work hard at finishing up my "ideal" fall posts while the colors are still so pretty. Usually by November, the trees are bare and crunchy leaves are lined along the streets! Any plans for the weekend?

Picking pumpkins

Tonight, Brett and I went pumpkin picking! We have this amazing place just south of us that sells all of the pumpkins in the world, apples, caramel apples, baked breads, fall mums.. everything for the season that you could want. It's so perfect. I want to explore a pumpkin patch sometime soon too, but we go here every year to pick our pumpkins for carving! Yay!



This past weekend, Brett and I went up north to shoot a small wedding at Point Betsie lighthouse. The photos turned out amazing - my husband is really talented! I'm so excited for him. He does an amazing job with my photos everyday. I'm super lucky to have him! We had such a great day - driving up a back country road, stopping at scenic lookouts, playing on the playground. I was so excited to find a teeter-totter! I haven't played on one of those in forever.. I have major bruises on my leg from it! Haha!



This dress felt so "pumpkin-picking" to me. I knew exactly where I wanted to wear it when I saw it. I love it! The mixture of plaid and ruffles - with the orange fall color, perfection! It is actually a longer-length dress too - so I can style it up different ways. I rolled it up at the waist a little bit and belted it. With my shorter legs, I like my dresses to be a tad bit shorter, but maybe in November when the weather cools down more - it would look pretty longer!

I've been loving this autumn weather - it's been such a pleasant one so far. Brett has been taking my car lately and I have had no problems riding the scoot everywhere because it's been so warm. I also love cleaning the apartment with all of the windows open and a warm breeze coming in through the windows. Plus, it smells so amazing outside with fall leaves and I love the sound of rustling leaves in the wind, especially at night. Pumpkins on porches, pumpkin spice lattes and these fall colors - ah, love!
