Today i received my EAD card, It says fingerprint not available. I have not yet received FP notice
Has this happened to anybody else, will i have to update EAD card after FP, how does this work
Filed on July 16th, My checks were cashed on 10th Sep
Thanks
vinod
First EAD will have no fingerprints, since you have not gone through FP.
Its normal. Read other threads.
You will not need to update EADs, renewal next year will take care of this automatically.
Could you please provide some more info on your case...ie. filed with which service center, case transfered or not....Remember this is community site, we share information/knowledge for benefit of each other, Thanks

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) today announced that it has posted a revised Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, Form I-485. In addition to a revised form, there are new filing locations. The changes are part of an overall effort to transition the intake of USCIS benefit forms from Service Centers to Lockbox facilities. Centralizing form and fee intake allows USCIS to provide the public more efficient and effective initial processing of applications and fees.
Beginning February 25, 2010, most applicants must submit Form I-485 to a USCIS Lockbox facility, depending on the eligibility category under which they are filing, as provided in the form instructions. USCIS Service Centers will forward all Form I-485 applications to the appropriate Lockbox facility until March 29, 2010. USCIS will accept previous versions of Form I-485 until March 29, 2010. After March 29, 2010, USCIS will only accept the Form I-485 dated 12/03/09.Any previous versions of the the form that are submitted will be rejected. After the transitional period, the Service Centers will return any incorrectly filed Form I-485 with instructions to send the application to the correct location.
At this time, applicants should not concurrently file Form I-485 with an Immigrant Petition for Alien Worker (Form I-140) at a USCIS Lockbox facility. Refer to the Form I-140 filing Instructions for information on how to file forms concurrently.
When filing Form I-485 at a Lockbox facility, you may elect to receive an email and/or text message notifying you that USCIS has accepted your application. To receive notification, you must complete an E-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance (Form G-1145), and attach it to the first page of your application.
For more information on USCIS programs, visit (http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis) or call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.

Hello friends,
wanted to see the timeline of EAD renewals currently..I have a EAD renewal receipt notice date of June 18th......was wondering how many days is TX taking to approve the notice....
Did aanyone around June 15 -June 20th get any approval yet?
My wife's EAD renewal receipt notice date is June 19th - close to yours. Also at TX.
Lets keep each other informed on any developments.
As per USCIS website, the processing time at TX service center is 3 months for EAD.
I hope its sooner!

I had renewed my passport from Chicago Consulate couple of years ago. Their website is not the greatest and the forms were also very confusing. I had created a thread in this forum seeking some help but no one had any idea about which form to use.
As I lived in Chicago area, I just walked in the consulate, filled out the form, gave them the money and my passport and got it back in 3 days.
This may have changed but if your original passport was issued / renewed 10 years ago then you will need to get a new passport but if it was issued 5 years ago then they will just renew it.
Hope this helps!

Well I don't know for today... but in 2004, the going rate was $4/application
FBI name check: This partially automated, name-based check searches over 86 million files documenting people who are the main subject or referenced in an FBI investigation. USCIS electronically submits applicant names to the FBI National Name Check Program for benefits such as naturalization, permanent residence, and asylum. The legacy INS queried the main files since 1985 but added reference files to security checks in 2002. USCIS submitted 1.5 million names at a cost of $6.0 million in FY 2004.

Hello Everyone,
Here is my situation:
1) My 6 years H1B with Company-A ends Sept 2011
2) I-140 approved and my priority date is Aug 2006.
3) Company-B(end client) offered a full-time position starting Jan 2010.
What are my options? My questions are:
1) Will I be eligible to extend my H1B with Company-B for another 3 years? Do I need a I-140 with Company-B to extend?
2) Is it possible to use the labor and I-140, that I filed when I was with Company-A, to file for I-485? If I can, can I file the I-485 independent of Company-A? Do I need any kind of approval or paper work from Company-A?
3) When Company-B sponsors my GC is it possible to port the priority date? Do I need to restart the whole GC process again with Company-B?
I am really confused. Please help.

hello, I am in a F1 status for about 3 years, I have been working and filing taxes. I am going to get married to a USC and apply for a green card through it. I want to know if I can have any problem in the aplication since I've been working without authorization.
Once you entered legally you should be able to get permanent residence even if you worked without authorization. Please see this blog post: Law Office of Elaine Martin - immigration news: My spouse is "illegal" - what can we do? (http://martinvisalaw.blogspot.com/2009/03/my-spouse-is-illegal-what-can-we-do.html).
Second in concern to the affidavit support how much should I show and who has to fill these forms since my future wife is unemployed.
Another common querstion so I blogged about this also: Law Office of Elaine Martin - immigration news: affidavit of support (http://martinvisalaw.blogspot.com/search/label/affidavit%20of%20support)
Third in case my wife file for bankruptcy in the future that could affect me and if it does how can avoid this. By the way I live in florida.
This is not an immigration question. You should check with a family or bankruptcy lawyer in Florida.

Hello,
When I first took my medical tests for I-485 with a doctor, the doctor put an additional document stating that: "I have a positive PPD that was read as 9mm of induration. A NORMAL chest x-ray was read. The patient is refered to their PCP or County Health Department for evaluation and possible treatment with INH for 9 months".
Now I received the RFE from CIS asking for the following:
"The form I-693 submitted is hereby returned because you TB test results were not documented appropriately. Additional documentation submitted from Civil Surgeon indicates that you were possibly being refered to the County Health Department for evaluation and have received teh follow up treatment.
The I-693 form must be properly endorsed by Civil Surgeon to reflect the following:
-> The date you first refered to the local health dept for evaluation
-> Name and address of the health dept
-> results of the X-ray and other TB test
-> Based on which you are medically cleared for adjustment status
"
If anyone had similar experiences, please let me know how to proceed on this issue.
PS: I got very late appointment with County Health department, so If I go to a private TB specialist and If I take the results to the original doctor and can he able to update my I-693 based on the TB specialist results?
If I go on 9 month medication will CIS wait 9 months to further process my petition or hold my EAD status?
If I go to a new doctor and If he gives me a new set of medical results, will CIS overlook previous doctor's comments?
I dont have much time as I just had 20 days left to send back my results to CIS.
Thanks for yor help.
Ravi

Yes that is right. The biometrics is essentially only for I-485 and that is the only LUD that may get updated.

How can I find was it for misdemeanor or battery or felony?
I-485 part III would require you to answer 'yes' to the following question:
Have you ever, in or outside the United States:
been arrested, cited, charged, indicted, fined or imprisoned for breaking or violating any law or ordinance, excluding traffic violations?
Your best bet would be to conduct a background check in your state to see if it shows up on your record. You might want to consult a lawyer to see if this shows up in police or other records as well. Ironically I recently heard of a lawyer who recently advised someone to answer no to the question for a DWI since it was a 'traffic violation'. Note that if you answer yes you have the opportunity to explain on a separate piece of paper.

Thanks

Hello all,
I need a clarification about the I-94 thing.
As I have mentioned previously, my husband got a 3 year extension on his H-1 ( I 140 approval ) till 08/2009 and he went to canada for stamping since we are planning to leave for India. He drove to canada and the officers at the border while entering into canada did not take his old I 94( expired 08/2006) which was on his older passport ( expired 04/2006). While on his way back to US, they stapled the lower part of his I-797 dated till 08/2009 to his new passport (current one) and stamped on the passport. But they did not put any date on the stamp where it shows'dated till'.
We are leaving for India tomorrow and have a couple of questions in this regard:
1. Is it okay to have two I 94's in the two different passpots? Has it happened to anyone who drove to canada that their older I 94 has not been taken?
2. While departing to India, which I-94 will be taken? the expired one on the older passport or the new one in the new passport. If the new one has to be taken, as it is a part of the original I-797 form, should it be surrendered to them?
We really appreciate your answers. Since we are travelling tomorrow, we are really concerned about this issue.
Thank you very much in advance.

Folks,
I will get my H1B this October. How long should I stick with the same company before transferring? I read somewhere that I should stick with them for atleast 3 months after Oct 1st. Is this true?
I don't think there is any hard and fast rule. But you need at least a couple of pay stubs to show that you worked for this company. I am not a lawyer , seek professional help when in doubt.
