Shanty Creek

When Brett and I scooted out to the city last weekend for an art festival, we took this gorgeous back country road. There were so many amazing places - cute bends in the road, creeks, old barns, abandoned farm houses, giant parks, never ending green fields, vintage homes, historic towns.. all running along a river that leads out to Lake Michigan. There is the cutest town ever that you quickly drive through. It feels like you step back in time. I can't wait to head back there and discover more places for inspiration!

Brett and I pulled over onto the side of the road and ran through the tallest grass ever to head down to Shanty Creek! Of course, ideal me wanted to trudge through the water, but it was so mucky, I couldn't bring myself to do it! Maybe next time. There were so many bugs and Brett and I were freaking out when we saw the tall grass moving. I was like hurry, hurry! Let's get out of here! I don't want to get eaten alive by a giant cobra! Haha.. I don't think Michigan has cobras. Oh boy, Brett kissed my forehead goodbye thanking me for putting him through another crazy blog experience.

I know I say it during every post and you're all sick of me gushing over Brett, but honestly. I love him so much and have really appreciated him lately. He's the best person I've ever known in my life. He constantly inspires me to be a better person. Whenever I have to deal with a difficult situation, he pulls me back down to earth and tells me when I need to shape up. But then he also listens to my ranting and is home every day when I come home from work to make me seriously giggle. Like today.. when he was sporting a goatee. I couldn't stop laughing. We're taking our monthly adventure this weekend and I cannot wait for a weekend away with him.

I purchased this dress back in March and haven't worn it yet. Can you guys believe that? It was when I went for the Jess LC photoshoot! I usually cannot pull off anything strapless, but this actually fits perfectly. I do have the tendency to keep yanking it up all the time, but it's really fitting. It's like a pink slip underneath the white eyelet. So pretty! I wanted to keep it simple and have been wanting to try this hat style, so I purchased this one from Modcloth - and threw the necklace over top! I find my style is getting more and more simple as the warm weather approaches. Hmm..
