Hi guys! I have a super exciting random Wednesday post for you guys! An exclusive interview with Kristen from Vedera on her personal style and her love for fashion! I've been working with Epic Records on this for a while and I've been so excited to put it all together! Kristen is also one of our fellow Chictopians, so you can be sure to check out her blog here and add her as a friend! It's so fun to see her style up outfits while she's on the road. It must be tough, but she pulls it off effortlessly. With an amazing voice, incredible style - what's not to love about Kristen?! Plus, she was so sweet to answer my interview questions!
1. How would you describe your personal style?
I would describe my style as constantly evolving, but my staples on the road are skinny jeans, blazers/jackets and statement boots. I love finding new and different accessories to make an outfit new so I can change it up on the road without lugging around too much stuff. I'd say I'm soft rocker minimalist chic. :)
2. What inspires you?
I'm inspired by art and creating something new! I'm inspired by people who are inspired!
3. Has being in Vedera influenced your style?
Being in Vedera has definitely influenced my style because it's a pretty unique life on the road and you kinda gotta learn what works. Also, there are so many random shopping opportunities in some of the most random of places. Like a tiny old antique shop in Chattanooga, Tennessee where I found some really cute charms and brooches.
4. Do you dress differently on stage?
My stage dress doesn't differ too much from what I normally wear, but some nights I'm feeling more spunky than others and I'll add some metallics or a dress that you wouldn't see me walking around in the day.
5. Who are some of your style icons?
Janis Joplin, Joni Mitchell, Patti Smith, Joan Jett. Basically women who own it. I don't care if you're wearing a hippie dress or leather pants.
6. You have a Chictopia account with your busy lifestyle! What is your favorite thing about the online fashion community?
I love Chictopia because it's such a positive energy. Everyone is giving each other props and appreciating each other for what makes them special.
7. What is your favorite thing about being in Vedera?
Writing songs that are from our hearts and getting out there and sharing them with the world.
8. What are some of your favorite bands or musicians?
Anything from classic rock to that new B.O.B. song, "Nothin on you". There are some amazing melodies in that song! Also, I love The Sundays, Peter Gabriel, Temper Trap, The Bird and the Bee, Stars, Rilo Kiley... I could go on for hours! There's so much great music out there.
9. What are some of your favorite places to shop?
I'm a big fan of Forever 21 and H&M. There is also a local boutique in KC that I love called Standard. Urban Outfitters and Top Shop are also great. Other than that, I just follow my nose. Or my eyes, I guess! Great clothes can be found anywhere!
10. Any advice for girls out there who want to pursue their dreams too?
Do it! You can do it! Just believe in yourself and find people out there who inspire you and follow your dreams! Never give up in what you believe in.
