Guy Behind the Camera: Final Edition!

Welcome to the final edition of Guy Behind the Camera! For new readers, I started this feature in January 2010 as a way to showcase the guys who take our pictures! Ever since I started my blog, Brett has been there right with me taking all of my photos and I wanted a way to showcase the guys for a change and say thanks! So here we go... first up we have Thessa from To Look For Style. Thessa is so grateful for her guy, Ricky. She spent a year reading style blogs but held off on her own because she wasn't sure she could keep up with it. With help from Ricky, she started her blog and has had his constant support since the beginning. He is always willing to help her with photos and root her on when she breaks through 50 hits a day! They've been together 7 years and she's so happy he's there to go on this journey with her. She couldn't do it without him!



Second, we have Chelsea and Scott from Tea Talk! They've been together for over four years and he is the positive light in her life. They are each other's best friends and spend so much time together taking photographs, eating and studying. He is always very encouraging when it comes to her blog and always notices when she puts a new post up. Scott is also a great sport when it comes to taking her outfit photos and is always helping her to grab the perfect shot. He's the most caring and loving person she's ever met and she's so thankful to have him in her life!



Third up, we have Rebecca from Rebecca with an R. Her husband, Jason, takes all of her photos! As a 6'4 basketball player who spends most days in gym shorts and a t-shirt, it's taken him some time to understand her fashion obsession. He supports her fascination as long as it doesn't involve her changing his comfortable style ;) He's not much of a photographer, but he willingly gets out of bed in the morning and puts on his slippers to trudge out into the cold to take her photos. What a trooper! And seeing as how they don't have a tripod, there would be no pictures without him. She once tried stacking a bunch of books on each other to take pictures and it ended up cutting off her head every time. So basically, what she is saying is get married. It makes fashion blogging much much easier! ;)



Next we have Heather from Simply Sunstar. She's been with her fiancee, Jeff, for over two and a half years and they are getting married in August. She absolutely loves having him as her best friend and photographer. He is so patient and always makes her laugh so he's able to grab natural, candid shots. It's also a lot of fun going out and exploring new locations with him. Her favorite thing about Jeff being her photographer is how she is able to see herself through his eyes. It makes her feel so much more beautiful and confident. He's also been so supportive and genuinely excited for her with each blogging milestone. Words can't express how grateful she is for him - her blog and life truly would not be the same without him!



Next, we have Maggie from Dimestore Diamond. Her fiancee, Brett, is truly a godsend when it comes to her blog. She had talked about it for so long about taking the plunge and Brett was the one who encouraged her and gave her the confidence to actually do it! He is her best friend, makes her laugh like no one else can and is the most generous person. Period. He takes her pictures in some crazy situations: at seven in the morning, in subzero weather and in his pajamas at night. No matter what, he's always there for her and gives her great blog (and life) advice. Her favorite photo shoots are those where they grab a drink and walk around their block goofing off and finding new places to take photos. She's so thankful for all he does and she cannot wait to be his wife!



For the last of the girls being featured, we have Jessica from Splendiferous Inclinations. Her husband, Caleb, is the most amazing husband she could ever ask for. When she decided to start blogging, he was immediately supportive. Even when his schedule gets crazy and he doesn't get home from work until midnight, he always asks if she needs her photos taken. He's her number one encourager, and he always tells her how beautiful she is and how cute her outfits are. He spends his days in slacks and ties, and he's always interested in seeing which quirky outfit she will choose to spend her day in. He is by no means a professional photographer, but his enthusiasm to help her always blows her away. Her blog is only possible because of the endless amount of support she receives from Caleb. She can't imagine her world without him!



And finally, I just want to say thanks to my husband, Brett, one more time for always taking my photos. We've been married for almost four years and I can honestly say these have been the best years of my entire life. When I asked Brett to take my very first outfit shot, we had no idea the adventure we'd be going on together. He's a huge part of this blog because he's obviously the biggest part of my life. Sometimes we get ourselves into insane predicaments - like the time a drunken sailor coo'ed us onto his sailboat for outfit shots, standing outside in 10 degrees for almost four hours for shots, running through someone's swamp marsh and sinking into the ground as we ran and having dogs chase us, trespassing several times, having lurkers stare at my goodies... we've seen it all. I can't wait for more adventure with him. I could have never imagined how great my life would be because of him. So on the final note of the Guy Behind the Camera series... thanks to all the guys out there that take our photos for us! We appreciate it!

The Guy Behind the Camera: 15th Edition!

Welcome to the 15th edition of Guy Behind the Camera! We only have two more features, so I'm excited to be showing off these lovely bloggers and their guys! For new readers, I started this over a year ago to give girls the opportunity to say thanks for the guys who take our pictures! Brett is the best - even though he's currently trying to charge me... by buying him records.. mmhmm! First up, we have Katie from Butterfly loves Snapdragons! She wanted to showcase her husband, Sean, because he's "so darn sweet". He doesn't take her photos everyday because he commutes, but he's so patient on the weekend to take her shots. He is supportive of her blog because he knows it's something that she loves and enjoys doing. He endures all of her directions and doesn't even say a word! She can't wait for many more years together with her best friend! So cute.



Second, we have Kendra from Closet Confections! She met her husband and photographer extraordinaire the first day of orientation in college, and they've been pretty much inseparable ever since. She wanted to showcase him because even though he works hard all day long as a high school math teacher and comes home exhausted, he always takes time to photograph her outfits. He's her number one go-to-person for outfit advice! One of the most supportive things he does is leave little comments and inside jokes on some of her posts once in a while. She's not sure if her readers realize he's the one making the comments, but it makes her smile to know that he's actively interested in what she loves doing! Love that!



Next up, we have Cayce from Madame Joy. She feels like her guy, Tim, deserves an award for putting up with her many freak-outs on their photo adventures. He is such a chill guy and she's quite high-strung, so together they are the perfect balance! He is an artist and always seems to find potential in the ordinary. He has been the driving force of encouragement behind her blog and was the one who gave her the courage to start in the first place. Tim rarely makes appearances on her blog, but one of the days she is going to convince him to let her turn the camera on him!



Fourth up, we have Mandy from The Curvy Model. (I met her during NYFW last fall and loved her to death!) She is obsessed with her camera and taking photos, so when she realized she needed a tripod... obviously that's a bummer for any photography lover! So instead, she has her longtime boyfriend, Kevin, take her shots! The rest is history. His eye is very different than hers, but that just makes her outfit photos so much more interesting. She's just so extremely happy to have him in her life.



And last up, we have Lauren from Sparrow and Urchin! I just met Lauren a couple of weeks ago at the Michigan Blogger Meetup and she was just so excited about her fiancee and photographer, Kevin! He helps her with everything - whether it's stretching canvases or supporting her in her new hobby of blogging. He loves helping her take photos and giving her advice on outfit choices! She loves that he's an amazing artist. They've been joined at the hip for over 5 years ever since they first met in a liberal arts class at art school! Say congrats to them for getting engaged! (I even got a sneak peek at her adorable wedding dress!)

The Guy Behind the Camera: 14th Edition!

Welcome to the 14th edition of Guy Behind the Camera! For new readers, I started this feature over a year ago to give bloggers the opportunity to thank their guys behind the camera that shoot their photos for their blogs! I really appreciate Brett and he's been so amazing to take my outfit shots! To start off the feature, we have Aly from From Pacific to Atlantic. Her and her guy, Wes, have been dating for over two years. He loves photography, so he is always excited to take photos for her blog! He is constantly supportive when she tries out new looks and is always pushing her to expand her style! He always reassures her about her choices in fashion and she says her wardrobe wouldn't have grown without him!



Second, we have Hanna from Teeny Owl. She's been dating her boyfriend for over two years and she says he's the absolute best. He supports her in everything she does and says she cannot say how much this has come in handy when she wants to spend so much of her free time blogging about fashion! Before she could even ask him if he would be her photographer, he offered! He is super honest with her and makes she sure looks her best in photos. He also helps to keep her on track with this new endeavor in her life. He's a super wonderful boyfriend and she is so excited for their wonderful future together.



Third, we have Sally from Louder than Silence! Her and her guy, Ross, have been together for over two years and they started their blog as a creative outlet for their writing and photography! Ross does actually appear in front of the camera too, as their blog is a collaboration between the two of them, documenting their day to day life in London town. She wanted to put forward a thank you to him for putting up with her and her perfectionist ways. He's always so patient and only moans a teeny bit - it helps somewhat that he fancies himself as a David Bailey type! And as a bonus, he shares her love of charity shopping - how many guys can you go out thrifting with?! So cute.



Fourth, we have Ellie from Ellie's Shoes. She thought, since her blog is all about shoes, it would be cute to show her and her guy... by their shoes! Her other half, Jodi, is a photographer by trade and they started her blog in London earlier this year. Jodi set up a makeshift studio and took portraits of every single pair she had! Without his beautiful shots, her blog would contain only lazy daily pictures. She hopes that he gains some recognition from her blog because he's so talented and so patient when they are in the studio!



And last we have Kirstin from Crimson Rosella! Her guy, Marco, encouraged her to start a blog because he has always thought her style was a little crazy. They moved to Australia from Canada and she had been terribly homesick, so he thought that starting a blog would keep her busy and less homesick... and it worked! She loves him because he supports her so much on the blog and helps her keep going with it. He was always there for her during her homesickness and was always suggesting little trips around Australia or photoshoots. He isn't much of a photographer, but he's getting the hang of it and does a great job for her blog. Now she is back home in Canada and she just wanted to submit him to thank him for all of his support, hard work and love when she needed it most!

The Guy Behind the Camera: 13th Edition!

Welcome to the 13th edition of The Guy Behind the Camera series! I love showing off lovely bloggers alongside their guys. A huge part of my life and blog is Brett so I wanted to give girls a chance to showcase their guys! First, I have Amber from This Is The Life. She always laughs when she has her husband take photos for her because he says, "The things I do for you..." Her husband is by no means a photographer (he's a nurse in the ICU) and has had close to zero experience with a camera until they met! Now his skills have vastly improved and she loves him to death for putting up with her and for being willing to learn what she likes. He actually bought her her first nice camera and little did he know a few years later - he would be the one "behind the camera". So cute.



Next up, we have Maggie from Lifesize Paperdoll. She has been such a wonderful support of my blog and I absolutely love reading about her adventures with her boyfriend, Niklaas. She says that he deserves to be featured because of how significant his contribution to making her blog beautiful has become in his photography. Together, they are the perfect team. He continually takes gorgeous photos that leaves her in awe. Every single day she gets to spend with him is a fairytale and she loves how he not only supports her blog, but loves being a part of it and turns every photo shoot into an adventure. Every time she looks at him, it's like the first time. Aww!



Third, we have Tanvi! Her husband, Ashish, takes all of her outfit photos. He has been so supportive of her blog since the very beginning! They always take pictures after he comes back from work in the evening and use it as their "time together". No matter how tired he is, he never complains! He is always willing to take as many photos as she needs. She has come to realize that nobody captures her like he does (through the lens). Aw!



Fourth, we have Leah from What Indie Nights. Her guy, Toby, is a film graduate and he is always interested in getting involved in creative projects with her. He encourages her passions and is happiest when he knows she's happy with how she looks. He has really high standards, which drives her to try harder, be more adventurous and worry less of what other people think. She knows that deep down he really loves that she's happy in participating in something like this. Plus, she says he is more stylish than her and he inspires her in that way too!



And last, we have Brooke from Wily Wiley. She wanted to be part of this feature because she thinks it's a wonderful way to give credit to the men who sigh and moan day after day when you just need to catch that perfect light or pull the car over for the perfect shot. Her boyfriend, Jeb, has been the most wonderful photographer for her. Every day he waits until she gets home from work so they can head down the street for the perfect location for photos. She loves how he can tell if they are going to be great shots or if they just need to capture a few more. They have the most fun shooting at his family's beach house. It has been a special place for them and she always loves looking back at those posts because she can see the happiness pouring out of her!

The Guy Behind the Camera: 12th Edition!

Welcome to the 12th edition of Guy Behind the Camera! I'm always excited to show five lovely bloggers and their guys behind the camera. First, I'd love to showcase Deepti from Diptea-esque-ish. She credits her husband to the visual appeal of her blog 100%. He is always helping search for the perfect spot for outfit locations. He is the only one that can make her look good on camera! He is always cool, super understanding and game with new ideas. He doesn't scare easy! Their picture sessions are their 'time' together where they have conversations, intelligent discussions and eventually.. a dinner date! So cute!



Second, we have Lynzy from Sparkling Footsteps. Her guy, Ryan, deserves this because he's a dedicated medical student who works ridiculously long hours, yet still finds the time to throw their Nikon around his neck and shoot outstanding photographs. He makes her feel like a princess in front of the camera and is great at giving direction (maybe he will become a photographer on the side, wink, wink!) She could not ask for a more supportive partner.



Third up, we have Leah from Vintage with a Twist. She wanted to submit her husband A.J. for the feature because he is a wonderful help with her blog. He is in the Army and they are stationed at Forst Bliss, TX (El Paso) and when it's not blazing hot outside and she's not using her self-timer, he is there to help! They are high school sweethearts and are now currently three months pregnant! Congrats to the both of you!



Fourth, we have Eleanor from Bonjour Bbydoll. I love reading her blog and seeing her gush over Morne. Eleanor says that when she first started asking him to take her pictures, there was a lot of complaining, but now he gets really into it - jokingly tell her to 'smize' (smile with her eyes - haha!) and saying, "Oooh, that's a really good one!" every couple of shots. They now have a little deal going on - for all the time he spends taking outfit pictures of her - she has to spend an equal amount playing Playstation with him (that's a lot of Playstation!) When he doesn't always understand her outfits, he understands that blogging makes her really happy - and he's always so helpful, and she loves him for that. Aww!



And last we have Janai-Chanelle from Bite the Beat. Her and her guy, Steven, became acquainted with one another through Craiglist of all places! He had just moved to Georgia from Tacoma and made a Missed Connection about a girl he saw at the Department of Driver Services while getting a drivers license. She had recently gone, thought it was her.. but it wasn't! Still they got to know each other and decided to meet up at a Matt & Kim concert. Afterwards they danced the night away. The rest is history from there! She says he is an ever-patient boyfriend when it comes to taking photos of her for her blog! He has a natural ability to capture the right moment on film! Cute!

The Guy Behind The Camera: 11th Edition!

Welcome to the 11th edition of Guy Behind the Camera! I'm super excited to showcase five more lovely bloggers and their guys that help them take their photos! It's insanely awesome having Brett around to take my photos - and I knew other girls out there felt the same, so I started this feature! First, we have Danielle from Antiquated Treasures. Her boyfriend, Corey, and her have been dating for over two years. He is her best friend in the entire world and their blog photo shoots usually end in them laughing until they can hardly breathe. Whenever she has to shoot her own photos, she says they never come out as good as when Corey helps out. When it comes to fashion, they are polar opposites and he thinks 95% of her wardrobe is a giant joke - but she wouldn't have it any other way. It helps keep her grounded! (So true!)



Next, we have Mara from M Loves M. If you read Mara's blog, you know all about her and her fiancee, Matthew, because her blog is called... M Loves M. Hehe! She feels he really does deserve a special shout-out for being such a wonderful fiancee and photographer extraordinaire. They've been together for over two years. She loves how he always makes her feel so beautiful and comfortable in front of the camera. He understands she loves to express herself through her outfits and has been so supportive of this aspect of her blog. She couldn't do it without him.. well, she could, but the pictures wouldn't be half as nice and she wouldn't look half as happy! Aw!



Third, we have Estefany from Helmet Head. Her boyfriend's name is Peter and they've been together since they were in the 11th grade in high school, which is over 4 years now. They've known each other since 6th grade - and she always wonders why they didn't become a couple earlier, but she knows that good things come for those who wait. He is her soulmate, she says. They have so many things in common, especially music. They enjoy going to shows together to watch their favorite bands perform. She loves having her best friend as her boyfriend. Plus, he cooks for her! Peter takes all of her photos for her - sometimes he hates it, sometimes he loves it, sometimes she has to bribe him - but in the end she knows he likes taking her photos because those are the times when they can hang out as a couple!



Next up, we have Vicki from Magpie Girl! Her boyfriend's name is Dave - and she loves him because not only does he take all of her photos for her blog. Even when she gets grumpy if they don't come out the way she planned or when too many people are out and about and she gets self conscious. But he supports her in everything she does and gets just as excited as she does when she thinks up new ideas for her blog. He is her one and only and she doesn't know where she'd be without him! So sweet.



Lastly, we have Molly of Chimerically Yours. She wanted to submit her boyfriend (aka her blog photographer extraordinaire) to the feature because her boyfriend is literally the only reason she can put together a respectable fashion blog. They've been together for three years - he's her best friend in the world and one of the most idealistically romantic people she's ever met. Both features are a must, of course, but really, not enough can be said for spending the day together playing all of their favorite video games and taking a little walk up to Edinburgh Castle with fresh local strawberries and a bottle of champagne (fantastic ensemble included!) It's a combo that suits them well. It's like Star Wars and Titanic had a love child and it was their relationship (haha!) He makes her feel confident, feminine and comfortable in her blog photos - and his artistic concepts for a shoot are always evolving and thus, improving the heck out of her blog! She couldn't do it without him!

The Guy Behind the Camera: 10th Edition!

Welcome to the 10th edition of the "Guy behind the Camera" series! For new readers, I started this feature to showcase some great guys that are behind the cameras of some amazing style blogs. I really grew to appreciate Brett for all of his time spent taking my photos and I figured a lot of girls out there feel the same, so this is a great place to showcase their talent and our appreciation for them! First, we have Toni from Fashion Butter. I had the wonderful opportunity to meet Toni in Chicago and in New York! Hearing about her and Alec's story is like.. a movie or a fairy tale, seriously. When she first wanted to take outfit photos, he was hesitant but now that he gets to play photographer, he gets so into it! He makes funny faces, tells her when her eyes are closed, tells her how to turn her body. Sometimes he even comes home and tells her that he found a cool place for them to shoot next time. She's originally from Chicago and he's from Canada.. and now they live in Greece together. She went to Greece on a vacation, met him and they have been inseparable ever since. He's her best friend in the whole world. Ah, love this!



Next, we have Sybil from Animated Confessions! They have been together for 3 years and even though they jumped into a long distance relationship, he never fails to make her feel good about herself. They've always been suckers for celebrating monthsaries and they always like to try something new every month. It's quite a challenge now that they are apart, but it's pretty exciting now to think of ways to celebrate! They love trying new foods and always have the cutest little adventures on her blog!



Third up, we have Kristina from Pretty Shiny Sparkly. She wanted to submit her wonderful boyfriend, Houston, for the series for many reasons. When it comes to putting up with her outfit photos, he's so incredibly patient, restricts eye-rolling to a minimum, and for a guy with little to no photography experience, once he wraps his hands around the camera, he is paparazzi all the way. She couldn't ask for a better or more understanding photographer! So sweet!



Next, we have Sweet from Confessions of a Drama Queen. Sweet says that her and King are two different people who fell in love. King loves rock bands while she prefers mellow r&b and love songs. She loves fashion and likes to dress up while he settles for the simplest outfit ever. Sometimes people wonder how compatible can they be? But ever since she started her blog, he has been her official photographer and never lets her down. He says bluntly if she looks funny in a photo and tells her what he thinks is the best pose! She loves him for being patient and for being in charge of holding the camera all the time. She loves him not only for taking her photos, but for helping promote her blog. She adores him for being so supportive! He even decided to move to Bangkok to be with her!



And last we have Veronika from Tick Tock Vintage. Her husband has been taking her photos for over 2 years now! He's such a good sport about it! He even trekks out in the rain to snap pictures for her even when he is running late for work! She wanted him to be featured for once, instead of her. She tells him he should join Chictopia all the time - she thinks his style is so amazing and he's actually an amazing thrifter! They are such a great-looking couple!

The Guy Behind the Camera: 9th Edition!

Welcome to the 9th edition of my "Guy Behind the Camera" series! For new readers, I started this feature last winter because I wanted a way to showcase and feature some of the guys that take our outfit photos for us! I really appreciate Brett for all he has done for the blog - waiting patiently as I fling my coat over him in the winter to quickly snap a few in the blizzarding cold, swat bugs at his neck while I'm frolicking in some swampy area in a floppy hat or hop fences so I can get a totally illegal shot somewhere where we shouldn't be trespassing! He's been so awesome - and I couldn't be more thankful! First, we have Erika from Dear Dear Closet! She has been with her boyfriend, Pablo, for over 6 years! He's a graduated U.S. Marine - but before he left for boot camp, his love for being "behind the camera" led him to be her personal photographer! He is so patient for her - fulfilling her crazy take-pictures-of-me wishes! But he loves to explore, so they have a ton of fun together taking pictures in new places. He doesn't like to wait while she carefully treks through the grass/dirt in pretty shoes so he'll carry her and drop her where he wants - ha ha! Pablo knows exactly what he wants in a photo where Erika is indecisive - so it's like they say, "Opposites attract!" :)



Next we have, Kenzie from From Pacific to Atlantic! Her and her best friend, Aly, have started this blog together and it's just so darling! For Kenzie, her boyfriend Garrett takes all of her photos for her! She insists on seeing every picture right after he takes it - haha! He climbs up hills or drives all around town so that they can find a good place to take photos. When she started the blog, she was really shy in front of the camera, but Garrett pushed her to try different poses and angles until she finally became comfortable! He always makes her laugh whenever they take pictures together so that "everyone can see her beautiful smile"! Aww - that is so sweet!



Third, we have Lainey from Lainey Turns the Camera On! Not only is her husband, Geo, an amazing photographer, but he's one of the most patient guys you'll ever meet. It takes a lot to please her when it comes to photos she puts on the blog and so they usually spend a half an hour sometimes just to get the rights ones for her to choose from! He loves doing random photo shoots with her (he's a budding headshot photographer - and he said she makes the best model!) and since they are both in the entertainment business - he knows the right angles to make her look good. Hehe! They're always looking to find new ways to create photoshoots together! He's her ultimate partner in crime and she loves him so much - so sweet!



Next up - Lindsay from My Solitary Consignment! Her fiance, Caulen, takes all of her photos for her and even joins her in cross-state thrifting adventures! He love thrift stores as much as she does! Lindsay says that her blog just wouldn't be possible without him! He's so patient with an eye for outfit shots - he deserves to be in the spotlight! She just can't wait to marry him - so sweet!



And last up, we have Sarah from Sarah Ann Noel! She wanted to submit her husband because he's her best friend and he's amazing and so loving! What more could a girl ask for in a guy, right? She also has to throw in that he's so smart, funny and handsome too! They live together in the great city of Denver, CO with the cutest Australian Shepherd pup you ever will see, Roscoe. So cute, thanks Sarah for showing off your guy!
